The first day of the state tournament was met with greatness as the Bingham girls did what no other bingham tennis team (boys or girls) has ever done. With great play from all 7 varsity girls, the team ended the day tied for 1st with Lone Peak and Corner Canyon.

In doubles, Degn and Cox outlasted a very talented Corner Canyon team winning 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(4) in their toughest match of the year. They were very determined and were not going to let anything get in their way of the second day. Binghams second doubles team of Thomas and Hansen fought hard as well but in the end couldn’t quite pull out the win in the tie breaker losing 2-6, 6-7 to Pleasant Grove. Thomas is a senior and played varsity 3 years and played in state those 3 years as well with a record of 2-3.
Day 2: In the semi-finals, Smith played a great match though losing to the eventual 2 time state champion Mandie Robbins of Lone Peak 1-6, 3-6 and ending her high school career for Bingham. Smith has been an integral part of the Bingham team playing varsity all 4 years as well as playing in the state tournament all 4 years ending with a 6-4 record in doubles and singles. Aubrey, another senior ended her high school career as well losing to the eventual state champion Gardner also of Lone Peak 0-6, 2-6. Aubrey played varisty 3 years and just had a great season. Her career record in state play was 2-2. In a match that could have gone either way, Degn and Cox lost in a nail biter to a talented Skyridge team 3-6, 6-7(4). Degn is also a senior and has played a big part for Bingham playing varisty all 4 years as well as playing in state all 4 years with a 6-4 record.
Bingham ended up in 6th place when it was all said and done. A very respectable finish against some amazing talent. We are so proud of our girls and the hard work they put in to make this an amazing year.
It is hard to say goodbye to our Seniors. Collectively they have played over 250 matches for Bingham and have all meant so much to Bingham tennis over the last 4 years. They will be missed but what a great ending for all these girls. They have provided some great entertainment and have been such good examples and leaders for their younger teammates. Returning from the varsity team is Dabo(jr) and Hansen(sr) along with a great crop of younger girls with lots of opportunity ahead of them and BIG shoes to fill. We look forward to another great year of Bingham girls tennis.
